DID YOU KNOW?
Prudence magazine, Ireland’s most recession-relevant glossy, has scored in just-released ABC circulation figures.
Prudence proves its worth by bucking the trend that has seen women’s interest magazines in the Irish market lose ground in the circulation race. 2009’s circulation results are up by an impressive 12.6% on last year’s figure. This is a remarkable achievement considering how hard the female-oriented magazine sector has been hit in the past 12 months.
With its mix of snappy finance features, budget fashion and beauty, thrifty travel and lifestyle features, the brand has grown significantly and appeals to women across all ages and demographics.
A strong digital presence focusing on a weekly on-message email newsletter, the PruZine, and frequent, relevant blog postings on www.prudence.ie, is also a core feature of the Prudence brand and is yet another first for a magazine in the Irish market.
ABOUT PRUDENCE MAGAZINE
Who’s Prudence?
Prudence is your kind of woman – she knows what she wants and is smart, stylish and funny with a lifelong sense of mischief. Prudence is a savvy shopper with great individual style and flair and discerning taste. Prudence will happily mix a pair of D&G jeans with a customised top from Dunnes and a vintage jacket. She is not snobby about clothes and doesn’t have to spend a fortune to know she is getting something wonderful. (And that goes for houses, interiors, travel, and leisure too.) Prudence knows a good deal when she sees one, is happy to splurge on labels if they are classic wardrobe essentials, but doesn’t have to have them to feel good about her life.
The most common thing Prudence’s friends ask her?
Wow, where did you get that?
Entertainment
Unlike the Beatles song, Prudence readers don’t have to be asked to ‘come out to play’. They love to socialise with friends, but they know the best places to go for the best deals in town. They certainly won’t be adding up the bill and arguing over who had the appetizers and who didn’t have wine with their meal. In short, they’re not tight fisted nit-pickers, but savvy, sassy women.
Prudence readers are just as easily found at home entertaining, in their stylish if slightly eclectic living spaces. They may spend €50 on a round of cocktails for a girls’ night on the town but could just as easily spend that €50 on a cocktail night ‘chez Prudence’. When hosting dinners, it may cost €5 a head but the presentation will be classy and Prudence’s creative touches will make it look like a big-meal-deal.
So who are they?
Prudence readers are educated, affluent women who set trends instead of merely following them. They know where to go for the best travel deals and will discover a hidden paradise before it becomes a tourist trap. They are the first to invest in homes abroad in places others haven’t heard of. They are good with money and check out the deals before they buy. As well as the usual ‘CV’ list of hobbies Prudence readers like DIY and making things for the home. While they are happy to splurge on a must-have item they just as easily boast about a junk shop find and have a way of mixing both to create a have-to-copy-it look.
And why do they read Prudence?
Leaflet distribution
Because they have rich lives but are sometimes time-poor and too busy to bargain hunt. They want A-list lifestyle at realist prices so Prudence does the work for them. Prudence is their style savior – because life should be rich.
